Middle School

The Year 7 classes are divided into Home Groups of no larger than twenty-five students. Each home group teacher actually teaches their class for them a large amount of their day. This enables staff to develop a strong meaningful relationship with students in their classes. There are three Year Level Managers, one at Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 who work with students in the Middle School. A Sub School Team Leader overviews the management of Years 7,8 and 9.

In the Middle School a team approach is adopted to ensure Year 7’s do not become too overwhelmed by being taught by too many different teachers. We are able to minimise the number of different teachers by having the same teacher teach Maths and Science and the English teacher teaches Geography and History. We believe that this approach assists our Year 7’s to settle quickly and feel that they belong to the school community.

Our Transition Program runs over three days. This orientation program provides the opportunity for students to meet other students who will be apart of their Home Group and also spend time with some of their new teachers.

Senior School

Grovedale College’s Senior School philosophy is to provide equal access and opportunity for success to all students. The College aims to offer a broad range of subjects and to encourage students to strive for excellence within their studies. We aim to prepare students for post-school study, employment and participation in a global community. Year 10 students explore a range of subjects in preparation for their post-compulsory studies in Years 11 and 12. All Year 11 and 12 students are engaged in courses which lead to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL).

School Charter

The college Charter is currently being reviewed and will be made available upon its completion. In August 2008 our Strategic Review was completed.
